Dust, Dirt and This Thing Called Humanity
Our Annual King’s Fold Women’s Retreat
Begins: April 26th at 7 pm Ends: April 28th early afternoon
“God remembers how we are formed. God remembers that we are dust.”
– Psalm 103:14
“Supposing a tree fell down, Pooh, while we were underneath it?”
“Supposing it didn’t,” said Pooh.
After careful thought, Piglet was comforted by this.
– A. A. Milne
“So I saw God and I sought God, I had God and I lacked God,
and this is and should be our ordinary undertaking in this life.”
– Julian of Norwich
Thank God for great comfort in the grace and truth behind each of these quotes!
Don’t come to this retreat if you are looking for 10 steps to being more whole, or 3 sure-fire ways to be less human. This retreat is not about positive thinking and trying harder, and it’s not about doing the right things and not doing the wrong things.
Come if you are tired, broken, ashamed, or hungry in your spirit. Come if you are going through the motions but remaining motionless. Come if you just need some rest, good food prepared for you, and time in God’s amazing creation.
We will look at what it means to be human, what it means to God for us to be human, and what on earth (because that is where we live – on earth) we are supposed to do with/about our humanity. Maybe this weekend we will even get a glimpse of how God sees our humanity. So be it!
Facilitator: Michelle Newsham
Michelle has been part of the community at King’s Fold for several years. She enjoys serving in many capacities but particularly as retreat facilitator and spiritual director. She feels a deep affinity for the land and is passionate about offering sacred, hospitable space where people can encounter God. She loves nature, photography, prairie skies and her role in life as Grauntie. She relies heavily on the truth that God pursues us more than we will ever pursue God.
