Begins: September 25th at 7 pm Ends: September 27th at 3pm
Trees are one of God’s truly amazing creations. Join us for a weekend of exploration as we use all of our senses to get a better understanding of these fascinating organisms. Binoculars, cameras, microscopes, chainsaws, and personal reflection time will all be used to discover a little more about these Tenacious, Resilient, Enduring, Enchanting Systems. Let God speak to you, nurture you, draw you through this weekend in the woods.
Facilitators: Laurie Newsham and Michelle Newsham
Laurie has been working in the trees since 1989, became a Certified Arborist in 1992 and started teaching arboriculture at Olds College in 1999. He holds certificates in several specific arboriculture disciplines, is a Landscape Horticulturist and has a degree in Landscape Management. Recognizing that this journey is not all about trees, he is grateful for the richness added to his life by his partner Carla, three special daughters and their men, and one very sharp grandson.
Michelle, Laurie’s sister, has been a member of the King’s Fold community for several years and is passionate about offering sacred, hospitable space where people can encounter God. She loves the outdoors and has found tremendous joy in transplanting and caring for specific trees. They have often been significant on her spiritual journey and have been used to speak deeply into her life – some of her favorite trees are at King’s Fold. Michelle is a spiritual director and is fascinated by nature, and photography – especially when it involves the Divine’s design.
Cost: $295 shared, $385 single (limited single rooms available)
