Prayer Walk - The Emmaus Road

sContent441.jpgThe Emmaus Road Prayer Walk weaves through the forest, highlighting how Jesus comes to us today, just as he came to the disciples after the resurrection, on the Road to Emmaus.

Today you are on the Emmaus Road - I'm on the Emmaus Road. All God's children are on the Emmaus Road, not only today, but every day - the Emmaus Road calls us - it's the road of wonderment, discovery, pain, joy, enlightenment...

It's on the Emmaus Road that Jesus comes alongside and offers us a new slant on life, another way to look at things - in the end our eyes are opened and we see Jesus.

Then he disappears; he leaves us to assimilate the new truth he has offered us into our everyday life.

The last station of this prayer walk is a tiny little prayer chapel in the woods - The Emmaus Chapel .

The two disciples on the Emmaus Road were nearing their home after a long journey, it was evening. They unknowingly invited Jesus to stay and dine with them. (They didn't yet know it was him, their eyes were closed).

He sat at table with them, prayed and broke bread. In the breaking of bread their eyes were opened and they knew it was him. And he was gone! "Oh how our hearts burned within us as he reasoned with us," they declared.

Hope was born in their hearts. With that hope, they hurried off to tell their friends, "Jesus is alive!"

This little Emmaus chapel is where you, too, can experience Jesus' presence. He meets you just where you are - in your joy and in your pain he offers answers and peace. Like Mary, Thomas and all the disciples your life can be transformed and renewed.
