The Kitchen Expansion is Complete and We've Moved In!
If you were listening to the activity in the kitchen these last few weeks, you would have heard things like: Where's the oil? Where do we keep the dishtowels now? Where did all this water come from? Where's the light switch for the lights in the nook? Has anyone seen the large cutting board? Do you know where the pots and pans are?
It has been an exciting transition - adjusting to new appliances, creating new routines, finding a place for large and small items, and introducing Associates to new systems we are still learning ourselves! What a ride!
Recently the community took some time to intentionally celebrate the new kitchen - to recognize what is new and good and right in the midst of the change and adjustments. These are several of the things we've noticed and appreciate about the "new" hub of King's Fold hospitality...
- spacious, classy and bright
- the view outside
- the new timer on the ovens
- walk-in cooler and freezer
- new luxury guest suites
- three new decks - back, front & up!
- pull out drawers in lower cupboards
- cool blue!
- new, easy to use fireplaces
- significant attention given to detail
- the baking area with its own equipment and supplies
- the design of the kitchen which facilitates conversation and community
- it is user friendly and functional, but still like a home
- new ranges and wall ovens that are "top of the line"
- beautiful wood cabinets and counter tops
- organization, with everything we need in one place
- an island that allows us to visit with guests while we work
- no more going up and down stairs for dry goods and freezer items!
- a new, large meeting room offering sacred space for both groups and individuals
Be sure to come to our Kitchen Expansion Celebration on April 4 and check out the kitchen for yourself! Celebrations will begin with a service in the chapel at 2:00 pm followed by lunch in the lodge. On this special day we will honor Bob and Janet Ball for their vision and dedication, pay tribute to Virgil Stauffer's leadership, and celebrate the generous commitment of those who have been instrumental in bringing this project to completion. Above all we are grateful to God for all he has provided. Come and celebrate King's Fold with us!

One of our staff summed it up well when she said, "Our new kitchen has given me the opportunity to deepen my faith in God. I witnessed so many volunteers showing up at just the right time, right when they were needed. They worked so faithfully and diligently on this project."
We are grateful for all the people that poured their hearts into King's Fold to help us get "back to normal" in the midst of an unusual year. Even though there is so much that is new, there is so much that is still the same - the ongoing support of our guests and friends has helped make this dream a reality.
