Great News!! - Sensational Response to Marathon!
We promised to keep you informed about the Marathon for Hospitality. The news is great – dozens of people are responding to the challenge to pay off the mortgage and kick start the kitchen expansion.
Bob has challenged me to meet him at the finish line to accept a $150,000 cheque on behalf of King’s Fold. I’ll be there!
TRAINING
Training is going well – I’m running 45-50 miles per week and I’m on target to run the marathon on November 27. I’m pumped!!
RESPONSE NEWS
I can’t tell you how encouraging your gifts and letters and notes have been. Many of you who are receiving this letter have already given – thanks so much for your generosity. When we burn the chapel mortgage on November 27 you will be very much a part of that momentous experience for the whole King’s Fold family.
FINANCIAL NEWS
The Marathon for Hospitality was launched by two great gifts – one for $50,000 and one for $20,000. Our goal is to more than “double match” that $70,000 on November 27 by raising a total of $150,000. Every dollar you give is matched by one dollar being released from the matching funds – that’s a wonderful way to maximize your gift to King’s Fold. For example, one of our guests gave me a $300 cheque last week which, when matched, resulted in a $600 mortgage payment. I love it!
At this date we have received in excess of $45,000. That means, when matched, we have $90,000 in hand, or pledged to be paid on November 27.
Friends, we are almost 2/3 of the way there – we can do it! If you haven’t given yet, we have enclosed a Marathon response card for your convenience. You will notice “gifts in kind” can also be pledged – in lumber, a walk-in cooler, cabinets, a dishwasher. These gifts in kind can also be receipted.
On November 27 it’s our goal to have raised $150,000 – however, if you wish to make your pledge for 2006, that can also be accommodated. Just mark it on the response card. All gifts are fully tax deductible.
Thank you for your wonderful support for this exciting adventure. I will try to do my part on November 27 – your prayers for strength, safety and fun, and your potential gift will mean a lot to me and to King’s Fold.
Well, I must go do a run – keep in touch!
